Brockville Hyundai Launches Shed Some Joy to Benefit the YMCA

BROCKVILLE, ON – For the fourth year, Brockville Hyundai has launched its draw to shine a light on mental health while raising funds for a local charity. This year’s fundraiser has been renamed Shed Some Joy: 20 Days of Prizes and will benefit the YMCA of Eastern Ontario.

“We had been collecting toys and food and offering free pictures with Santa when Covid came along, and we wanted to continue to support our community despite the closures. We needed a new idea,” said Dane Fellows, general manager and operating partner of Brockville Hyundai. “That’s when we decided to offer the outdoor shed. Local businesses stepped up in a big way to offer support and prizes, and we’re now on the fourth year of this event.”

Tickets are $50 and are on sale at Brockville Hyundai, Brockville YMCA and the Butcher Shop until December 28, or while supplies last. There will be 20 days of draws for 24 prizes with the grand prize of the Amish shed drawn on December 31 at 9 a.m.

“The sooner you get a ticket, the more draws you are entered into,” said Fellows. “It’s worth buying them early.”

A very special piece of news is the announcement of this year’s anonymous donor who has once again stepped up to match all funds raised through ticket sales and donations without any limit. Last year, this meant that Brockville Hyundai was able to give $280,000 to a local charity!

All monies raised this year will support the local YMCA.

“We are so grateful to Dane and his team, all participating businesses, the matching fund donor and to everyone who supports this annual fundraiser,” said Rob Adams, CEO, YMCA of Eastern Ontario. “Covid really shone a light on mental health, and the connection between physical and mental health is well-documented. All funds raised will go to programs and services at Brockville Y to ensure that everyone can participate.”

Some of the wonderful donors and prizes include:

  • The grand prize of a stunning pre-wired Amished from Jay Glynn and Krissy Irene.
  • Assorted prizes from Canarm Ltd.
  • Leather reclining couch and wall-mounted television from Rideau Auction Inc.
  • Four all-inclusive five-star vacations from Goliger’s TravelPlus, Brockville. (One being drawn each week.)
  • Two Yoder smokers from the Butcher Shop, Brockville.
  • “Escape the Everyday” package from the Best Western Plus Perth Parkside Inn & Spa.
  • Gift certificates for Landscape Depot from Distinct Landscape Group.
  • Gift certificates for pizza from Luna Pizzeria.
  • Gift certificates from Alan Browns Clothing.
  •

Additionally, Johnston Brothers tree farm have provide fresh Christmas trees for Santa at Brockville Hyundai along with trees for local families.

“We are so pleased to see so many businesses back again to help make this year’s campaign even bigger,” said Fellows. “A special thanks to all who participated in last year’s campaign. Together, we made a big difference. Extra thanks to the continued support of our incredible anonymous donor. Together let’s do it again and make a difference in our community.”
