Letter to YMCA Families Re-opening of childcare

Dear Families:

On behalf of the YMCA of Eastern Ontario we hope you are enjoying time with your family and staying safe.

You may have heard today’s announcement from the government regarding the ability of childcare centres to open as of this Friday.

This is likely welcome news to many parents at work or returning to work. Guidelines for childcare operations have not yet been provided, but we are expecting them in the coming weeks if not days.  These will instruct us in any changes to policies, procedures and practices required to further minimize the spread of infection. We are preparing by putting in place some of the procedures like additional sanitation and screening that we can expect will be part of the new protocols. By anticipating some of the changes, we will be in a better position to open safely. We are also in contact with schools regarding the possibility of having access to those spaces for childcare.

Once the guidelines are received, our staff teams will begin to be recalled to prepare for re-opening.  You can expect us to be connecting with you soon.  Please continue to watch for updates on the Weemarkable site (Childcare) and our website and Facebook page (School Age Care).

While we know that things won’t be the same as before the closure, the YMCA is committed to continuing to provide high quality and safe childcare for our families.

Our staff look forward to welcoming you back.

P.S. If you aren’t following us on Facebook or Twitter, your children may want to join us there on Friday at 1 p.m. when Ren will be sharing his favourite story, Stephanie’s Ponytail.
