Dear Members, Parents and Guardians:
This afternoon, the provincial government announced a temporary province-wide lockdown beginning on December 26. Our priority has always been the safety of everyone who comes to the YMCA and we continue to support the necessary steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
During the lockdown, all memberships will be placed on hold with no membership fees charged. At this time, re-opening of our health and fitness facilities is scheduled for January 25, 2021. Membership payments will automatically resume.
For children enrolled in childcare, programs and fees will continue as usual. School-age care (SAC) offered at Brockville or Kingston YMCA facilities will continue until January 3. Between January 4 and 8, SAC cannot be offered. We will alert you if government changes this restriction. For children enrolled in school-age-care programs delivered offsite, service will be interrupted as we will not have access to these facilities. In the case of suspended service, fees will be not be drawn during the period in question and will automatically resume once we re-open.
We will miss seeing you at your Y, we hope that when you return, Canada will have started to flatten the curve. To help keep everyone healthy, active and connected to your Y, we have many workout videos posted to our YouTube channel which we hope you will enjoy.
We will share information on the news page of our website and through our social media accounts. As the situation evolves, we are committed to keeping you up-to-date.
We do not know how this second closure will affect the Y yet remain committed to our charitable mission of building stronger, healthier communities through the growth of all persons in spirit, mind and body, and to our shared responsibility to each other.
If you are in a position to donate to your Y – in time for a 2020 tax receipt! – please visit our website or text YMCA to 41010. Your gift will help us continue to provide safe spaces, healthy programs and positive social connections for many vulnerable persons in our community.
