Rob's Blog Good habits and next week

Greetings All:

Hope everyone's week has gone well.

I wish to share out of care and concern for each of you that I hope each of you are reminding those around you to be proactive and diligent in practising the simple precautions that have been advised by Public Health, which are:

  1. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer.
  2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
  3. Cover your coughs and sneezes with your arm not your hand.
  4. If you are sick, stay home.

Public Health also advises that if you are ill and have travelled to an affected area in the 14 days before you became sick you should call your healthcare provider and tell them about your symptoms. After hours, or if you do not have a health care provider, contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000.

Please do not visit your health care provider or a walk-in-clinic without calling ahead. Let's also promise to remind each other to wipe down equipment before and after use.

For me, this week included meetings with our governance, the YMCA Ontario CEO diversity, the annual giving campaign and community youth engagement committees. I participated in a second design meeting with Providence Manor regarding a possible new YMCA childcare centre. I was also given a great opportunity to be invited to the home of Jean and George Smith. George was a former City of Brockville mayor, YMCA board chair and an early YMCA annual giving campaign chair. They are both still very active donors. It was a great mentoring experience for me and I left so impressed on how their passion for the YMCA and its efforts have spanned over so many years. Attached is a photo from our visit. The smiles say it all.

Next Weeks Schedule

  • Monday – Brockville: Youth Engagement Committee Meeting
  • Tuesday – Kingston: Senior Team Meeting
  • Wednesday – Kingston: Stewardship Meetings
  • Thursday – Offsite
  • Friday – Offsite

I will be taking a two-week hiatus from providing you an update as I'm planning some time away with my son Declan during his March Break. On tap is a trip to Gramma's, a Raptors game and a sleepover with some school buddies.

Thanks all. Have a restful weekend.
