YMCA Partners with Town of Prescott to Bring Y Programs to Centennial Pool News Release

The YMCA of Eastern Ontario is excited to bring its aquatic expertise to Prescott in its new partnership agreement with the Town of Prescot for programming at Centennial Pool, following a unanimous vote by town council last night.

In the report to council, staff presented the desire of Prescott to partner with expert service providers, highlighting the Y’s long history in serving Eastern Ontario and its expansion of services to Gananoque and North Grenville.

The YMCA is a well-respected organization and internationally recognized brand. Staff met with representatives of the YMCA over several meetings to explore the concept of a partnership for the programming at Centennial Pool,” the report stated.

The agreement has the flexibility to allow both the town and YMCA to address restrictions due to COVID.  This will include the pool opening and closing dates, and whether lessons will be possible.

“We are pleased to serve the people of Prescott and honoured that town council has demonstrated its faith in our abilities,” said Rob Adams, CEO, YMCA of Eastern Ontario. “This agreement is a great example of a partnership that makes a real difference to local residents.”

Prescott Centennial Pool is one of the town's most popular amenities. Throughout the summer, residents enjoy water sports and activities that include swimming lessons, aquafit and lane swims. Prescott’s swim team also practices at the pool.

“Passing this motion at council shows Prescott’s vision for the future – a vision that looks to partnerships to provide excellent services to our community,” said Prescott Mayor Brett Todd. “This two-year agreement with the YMCA of Eastern Ontario will bring a superb level of service to everyone who uses our pool.”
