Frequently Asked Questions About Our February Re-opening

YMCA of Eastern Ontario Frequently Asked Questions About Our February Re-opening

Important dates

Q: When will the Y re-open?
A: The YMCA of Eastern Ontario, Kingston and Brockville locations, will re-open on February 22, 2021.

Q: What hours will you be open?
A: We will be returning to the hours established for fall 2020. A link to both Brockville and Kingston hours can be found here.

Q: Where can we find the new fitness class and swim schedules?
A: All schedules will continue to be posted on our “What We Offer” page in the Quick Links box. The temporary schedules for the week of February 22 will be available on February 17; the permanent schedules for March 1 and onward will be posted on February 19.

Membership fees

Q: When will my membership fees begin?
A: Fees will begin to be drawn starting March 1 on your regularly scheduled draw date. If you normally pay your fees on the first of the month, the first draw will be on March 1; if it is the 15th, the first payment will be drawn on March 15.

Swim classes

Q: When will swim classes resume?
A: We are aiming to have swim classes resume on April 12 with registration beginning about March 22. More information on this including schedules and registration information will be announced as soon as we receive public health approval.

Time limits

Q: Will time limits be put in place when accessing the YMCA?
A: Time limits vary from 45 minutes to an hour depending on which area of the Y you are using and how busy the facility is. Signs are posted in each area with time limits and we ask everyone to be respectful of these limits so all may use the Y under Covid restrictions to indoor crowds.

Registration

Q: Will pre-registration be required?
A: After review of public health and provincial requirements, we will not be requiring pre-registration to access the YMCA while we remain under green level protocols. Should either Kingston or Brockville be moved to yellow protocols, registration will be required across both facilities.

Q: Will there be any changes to registration to book squash courts?
A: Squash courts will now be booked through the YMCA’s new registration and booking system.
You will receive an email directly with instructions on how to book a court. We will also post instructions on our website.

Safety measures

Q: What safety measures will be in place when the Y re-opens?
A: A detailed list can be found on our website. The main things to keep in mind are:

  • Access to the YMCA of Eastern Ontario is limited to YMCA members who live in Leeds, Grenville, Lanark, Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington.
    • No out-of-area YMCA members may access our facilities at this time.
  • No day passes will be sold.
  • Members must self-screen before entering the building and again before scanning their membership card or signing in. Scanning your membership card or signing in means that you have passed the self-screening questionnaire.
  • You must wear a mask at all times within the Y unless you are using a cardio machine, in the pool or participating in a fitness class. This means wearing a mask while walking from one area to another, anytime you cannot maintain a safe 6-foot distance, when weight training, in the gym, playing squash, in the change rooms, etc.
  • You must maintain physical distance of 6 feet whenever possible.
  • Sanitize equipment and machines before and after use.
  • Use a water bottle as drinking fountains are not in use.
  • Be conscious of time during busy hours to ensure that others may also access the Y. Time limits for busy hours vary and are posted in each area.
