Greetings and Happy Family Day weekend everyone!
Our family has a tradition on this weekend of heading to Ottawa for a couple of days to skate on the canal. We spend our time skating, drinking hot chocolate and eating French fries and Beavertails. We stay in our comfy clothes and go to our favourite bookstore to each pick a book for the quiet moments as we chill at local cafes and back in the hotel room.
On Monday, I am looking forward to visiting with families as they access our FREE Family Day weekend activities.
For a look back over this past week, the YMCA signed a formal agreement with Connect Youth to allow homeless youth or youth at risk of being homeless with full access to the Y at no cost to them. Alongside memberships, Connect Youth will have weekly access to bring a group of young people to the YMCA to participate in recreational activities and maybe a group fitness class or two. Homelessness and unaffordable housing are issues everywhere; the YMCA is committed to doing its part to address it.
Also this week, executive students at Queen’s University Smith School of Business built and donated 18 bikes for the YMCA to distribute to children who are receiving some kind of YMCA subsidy.
Included here are a few pictures that will make your heart feel good. Mine did!
Here's a look at next week’s schedule:
Once again, have a great weekend and enjoy your family time a little more this weekend.
