YMCA to Run City’s Neighbourhood Parks Program

Kingston, ON – The YMCA of Eastern Ontario is gearing up to operate the City of Kingston’s Neighbourhood Parks Program this summer.

This free, drop-in program offers recreational programming at five local parks for children aged six to 12 from Mondays to Fridays, beginning on July 2 and running to August 23, with the exception of the Civic Holiday on Monday, August 5.

“The Neighbourhood Parks program is a great opportunity for children to spend time outdoors this summer, exploring a variety of interesting activities and making new friends—it’s what summer is all about!” said Tony Gargaro, manager of Recreation Services at the City of Kingston. “We are grateful to the YMCA for their partnership in delivering this exciting program to children all over Kingston.”

“We welcome the opportunity to further strengthen our partnership with the City of Kingston by running the Neighbourhood Parks Program. This is a terrific program for city residents and is a natural complement to our existing youth programs,” said Rob Adams, CEO, YMCA of Eastern Ontario. “The Y’s experience runs deep with programs for youth from our academic suspension programs to youth recreation and summer camps to childcare. We are looking forward to providing fun activities for kids across the city!”
